Works by professionally trained artists – as Alfred Palmer and James Walter Gibbs.
large oil paintings in the Museum of Swanage’s two founding fathers – John Mowlem (1788-1888) and George Burt (1818-1894)
The portrait of Burt is by the artist John Edgar Williams (1846-1883), he also painted a portrait of George Burt’s wife Elizabeth (1811-1886) which is displayed alongside of that of her husband.
